Entities from different realms and time periods are suddenly appearing in present day all over the world. With fragmented memories of who they are or where they come from, these Alters (as they have come to be called) suddenly find themselves lost, disoriented, and full of anxiety amidst places that they cannot recognize and among people they don’t know. Some of them become angry and violent, others fall into depression, and others go insane. But for most of the Alters, they just want to understand what is happening to them and move on with their lives.

Scientists from every nation scramble to discover the cause of this phenomenon. Among the many theories that have surfaced, there is one that stands out—there has been “a LAPSE in time and space.” To make matters worse, the Lapse has been recurring like a flickering lightbulb, throwing the Alters in and out of the time-space continuum. Even with the most brilliant minds of the world put together, the closest that scientists have reached in understanding the phenomenon is that Alters disappear from one place and reappear in another location on a cyclical pattern of every 88 days…UNLESS the Alters either completely recover their memories or totally forget who they are before the end of the cycle. But as to how to stop the Lapse, cure it, or prevent another similar incident from happening in the future, everyone is clueless. In the meantime, the number of Alters is growing exponentially, almost like a plague. If the Alters are not helped soon, the world will certainly fall into pandemonium, and the universe as we know it could collapse at any given time.

For those who believe, benevolence comes from beyond. The Seven Immortals have created Egos—transcendental manifestations of the eternal virtues that keeps the universe whole. The Egos serve as discipleship vessels for mortals to partake in the quest to save the Alters and restore balance in the universe. But as with anything in nature, duality in oneness also exists in the Egos. While driven by the same purpose, the Egos are divided into two opposing factions—the Axiom and the Affinity. Burning red with passion, the members of Axiom believe that the best way to save the Alters is to give them back their memories. Peacefully blue in acceptance, the members of Affinity believe otherwise—that the total erasure of memories is the only way the Alters can be freed.

Para los que creen, la benevolencia viene de más allá. Los Siete Inmortales han creado los Egos, estos son manifestaciones trascendentales de las virtudes eternas que mantienen todo el universo. Los Egos sirven como receptores de un discipulado para que los mortales participen en la búsqueda para salvar los Alters y restaurar el equilibrio en el universo. The Lapse created disharmonies which diverted the Alters from their life paths. Then in order to rebuild their memories, the Egos must realign the Alters life paths by acquiring a lifetime of Tao within the 88-day time limit that the Lapse has apparently set. To make things more complicated, an Alter can only be saved at an ultra-exact moment in time…that split-second before it reaches 88 days. And the fate of the Alter—either complete memory recovery or total memory loss—depends on which faction has acquired the most amount of Tao when that split-second arrives. Such feat is only possible through superhero battles. But while the Egos are replicable ad infinitum, their mortality prevents them from engaging in supernatural battles. To compensate for the humanity of the Egos, The Seven Immortals likewise created ethereal Guardians who, unlike the Egos, are not only capable of resurrection but are also endowed with super powers. Guardians acquire Tao by battling with each other, and the higher the gains, the higher the stakes. But more than their super abilities, it is their purpose in life that makes Guardians superheroes—they were created for one and only one purpose: to give their lives in exchange for saving an Alter.
 


It’s true, not everyone can be a superhero. But as an Ego, you can build a troop of Guardian superheroes!

Independientemente de lo que crean, la única manera de que los Egos puedan ayudar a los Álters es restableciendo sus mentes. Lapse creó desórdenes que desviaron a los Alters del camino de sus vidas. Entonces, para reconstruir sus mentes, los Egos deben realinear los caminos de vida de los Alters adquiriendo un tiempo de vida Tao dentro ese límite de tiempo de 88 días, el cual es el límite que Lapse aparentemente ha establecido. Para compensar la humanidad de los Egos, Los Siete Inmortales igualmente crearon Guardianes etéreos que, a diferencia de los Egos, no sólo son capaces de resucitar, sino que también son dotados de súper poderes. Los guardianes adquieren Tao mediante la batalla entre sí, y cuanto más altas son las ganancias, mayores son las apuestas. Pero más que sus súper habilidades, es su propósito en la vida lo que hacen a los Guardianes superhéroes; ellos fueron creados para un solo y único propósito: entregar sus vidas a cambio de salvar a un Alter.
